Hyperpigmentation and melasma
Skin pigmentation is something you can be born with or something that can occur over time as a result of sun exposure and environmental factors. Those struggling with hyperpigmentation or melasma can find it difficult to discover effective treatment on their own, as home remedies are largely inadequate. Melasma can appear anywhere on the faces, on the forearms, the neck, and other areas with frequent sun exposure, making it a prominent concern.
The traditional treatments of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) tends to be a difficult and prolonged process that often takes 6-12 months to achieve the desired results of depigmentation. It’s time to try something new! Discover the world of Advanced Aesthetics with Skin Savvy’s treatment offerings. These treatments help rejuvenate the skin’s epidermis and break up added melanin within the skin!
Causes of Melasma and Hyperpigmentation
We know that hyperpigmentation is typically a result of sun exposure and environmental factors, with the sun’s rays triggering excess melanin production. Melasma is a slightly different concern, and is typically linked to hormonal fluctuations, and certain medications that increase the skin’s likelihood of developing pigment
How is hyperpigmentation treated?
At Skin Savvy Med Spa we use therapies customized to each patient’s needs, based on skin type and severity of your hyperpigmentation. Your particular pigmentation may be treated with one or more Skin Savvy treatemnts listed below.
Corrective Treatments
Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels are formulated with an acidic gel made up of naturally occurring acids such as alphahydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), glycolic or salicylic acid combined with other skincare ingredients. Chemical peels are often used in combination with micro-needling in order to resurface and improve hyperpigmentation and melasma.
PhotoFacial
PhotoFacial is a very powerful and precise light-based treatment that works to rejuvenate the skin by encouraging skin cell turnover and new collagen production. On hyperpigmentation, this treatment reduces the unnecessary melanin that produces excess pigment. Photofacial treats only pigment, rather than surrounding skin, patients experience a fast, effective treatment with minimal downtime.
Laser Resurfacing
CO2 Laser Resurfacing is a highly effective way to reduce wrinkles, scars and other imperfections, laser resurfacing in general involves removing the damaged outer layer of the skin. In this way, it promotes collagen production and encourages the skin to replenish itself from the inside out, revealing a smooth and hyperpigmentation-free appearance.
Pico Genesis
Enlighten PICO Genesis laser procedure takes an entirely new approach to the treatment of hyperpigmentation issues and skin revitalization. It is also one the best and safest treatments for melasma! Primary melasma irritant in most laser resurfacing treatments is the extended exposure to heat, which the PicoSure laser system reduces drastically!
Testimonials
Stephanie was amazing! She truly took my skin to a new level with just one facial. She was not pushy with making me buy products which I find very refreshing. We had great conversation and I left feeling amazing. It has been 24 hours since my hydro facial and chemical peel. I seriously feel like a new woman. No dryness or spotting like some chemical peels cause. I 100% recommend this small, clean, and friendly boutique skin spa.
Really loved visiting Skin Savvy! I met with Stephanie for a consultation and left feeling so confident in our plan! She was so knowledgeable and easy to talk to and I am excited for upcoming appointments. I also purchased products while there and love everything recommended/purchased.
Wouldn’t go anywhere else for my skin care needs. The ladies at Skin Savvy are professional, friendly and welcoming. Knowledgeable and extremely qualified, answer honestly any and all questions or concerns that I have. Highly recommend.
